6. The Sound Of Goodbye

Another tune I wrote with my Nashville writing partner. His girlfriend had left him and he told me that his heart was broken. We started writing a heartbreak country song that we originally titled "What's the Sound" and we pitched it around Nashville back in the 2000s. For this CD, I turned the song darker, using a revamped melody in a minor key, and a stark arrangement. I also made the melody express a little more anger, wrote the bridge, and changed the title.
