From the recording Forever Saskatoon

Following up the song Treasures from the first CatTrick Band CD, this song continues the story of me and Suzanne. I had contacted her via Facebook, 41 years after we parted ways in 1976, and we agreed to meet up ... and ... the spark is still there!

Second Chance At Love
© Felicito Guerrero 2016

I was a teenage boy from Fort Worth, never dated anyone.
I met the prettiest girl from Houston. Her smile outshined the sun.
Friday night at the skating rink as soon as we got in
I’d take her hand, she’d close her eyes, ‘round and round we'd spin.

Then I went off to college, we tried to make it work.
But distance got the best of us. That goodbye really hurt.
I guess it was bound to happen, on Facebook who should I find?
It was the prettiest girl in Houston with that beautiful smile.

The first time around was all rainbows in the sun
How did it fall to pieces? I guess we were too young
Then a second chance appeared as if guided from above
I’m grateful for a second chance at love

I texted her and we made a date. I tell ya I was scared as hell.
Stepping outta the car her adorable smile made my heart melt.
We talked about the old times, holding hands and our first kiss.
Trying to read those blue green eyes, regretting what I'd missed.

The first time around was all rainbows in the sun
How did it fall to pieces? I guess we were too young
Then a second chance appeared as if guided from above
I’m grateful for a second chance at love

I told her when we split up
It ripped my heart out of my chest
She said "How could I forget you?
I always loved you best."

The first time around was all rainbows in the sun
How did it fall to pieces? I guess we were too young
Then a second chance appeared as if guided from above
I’m grateful for a second chance at love
Yeah, a second chance appeared as if guided from above
I’m grateful for a second chance
I’m grateful for a second chance
I’m grateful for a second chance at love
