From the recording Forever Saskatoon

Always love a roadtrip, viewing the highway as a route to new adventures. Sometimes the highway takes you away from someone you wish could come with you. Then the highway becomes bittersweet and you take the direct route back, pushing the speed limit.

Standing On the Edge
© Felicito Guerrero 1983

Last night I took your picture from my nightstand
And rehearsed three words I've never said before.
I didn't call, I resisted that temptation.
I'd face you with this truth I can't ignore.

You know I love to drive steel belts down a highway.
I never miss a chance to travel a new road.
But lately the roads seem a lot longer.
And my heart has taken on a heavy load.

Cos when I turn to say goodbye on the step of your front porch,
You don't ask to go or beg me to stay.
But your kiss goodbye has started burning like a torch.
And I've never felt my heart beat this way.
Now I'm standing on the edge, asking guidance from above.
Standing on the edge between heartache and love.

I could keep driving despite this pain I'm feeling
And take some time to lose your memory
But a girl like you comes once in a lifetime
And the love we share has always been my dream

When I turn to say goodbye on the step of your front porch,
You don't ask to go or beg me to stay.
But your kiss goodbye has started burning like a torch.
And I've never felt my heart beat this way.
Now I'm standing on the edge, asking guidance from above.
Standing on the edge between heartache and love.

Now I'm flying down this highway
That leads me back to you.

And love..................... Oooo.............
Yeah I'm standing on the edge, asking guidance from above.
Standing on the edge between heartache and love.
