From the recording Forever Saskatoon

I always loved the lush music of the Moody Blues. The chorus came from a poster I had as a teenager and Stan and I wrote the verses, describing 3 places in New Zealand that really impacted us. Tucker composed some beautiful Mellotron and synthesizer tracks to help set the mood.

A Place You Love

You never really leave a place you love
You never really leave a place you love

Rocks of ages in front of me, my guide to infinity.
Walking through cliffs so tall, I sense the spirits in the walls.
Whispers of beginnings, echoes of the end
Guardian of souls, Kura Tawhiti take me in.

You never really leave a place you love
A part of it you take with you
Leaving part of you behind.
Ooo - ooo Ooo - ooo Ooo.

Raging torrent where two seas meet and spirits take flight to the sea.
Springs of life with a drink you find your way to the divine.
Waters of beginnings, waters of the end
Mother and Father, Cape Reinga take me in.

You never really leave a place you love
A part of it you take with you
Leaving part of you behind.
Ooo - ooo Ooo - ooo Ooo.

The trees tall and silent, victorious against time.
Lord over Forest since before humankind.
Tree of beginnings, tree of the end
Ecologic weaving, Tane Mahuta take me in.

You never really leave a place you love
A part of it you take with you
Leaving part of you behind.
Ooo - ooo Ooo - ooo Ooo.

You never really leave a place you love
A part of it you take with you
Leaving part of you behind.
Ooo - ooo Ooo - ooo Yeah
