From the recording Forever Saskatoon

Living in Estes Park, Colorado in the summer of 1974, I could see Long's Peak as I walked to and from work. That experience turned me from a city boy into a nature-loving, backpacking, tree-hugging, Sierra Clubber, student of the outdoors.

No City Man Am I

Sitting there alone, gazing onto the sidewalks
of a world he lives in but fails to understand.
Thinking of a time and place wond'rin' where they went to.
A time of loving her, a place where he understands.

So he packs his bag and says I'm leaving, you may follow.
We may find a better place or we may lose the time.
But Colorado beckons me, no city man am I.

Tryin' to settle down and build a home he can stand on.
City life's a heavy load, too long gets him down.
So his lady follows, they find silence in the mountains.
Another life completed by the solitude of the hills.

Green forests stretching out their arms to the heavens.
Bringing back life for us, a gift we must not lose.
The mountains call on high to me, for silence here am I.

Have you ever seen the starlight I see now?
Gazing through infinity to years I've lived before.
Well I think I'll sit out here and sing out all the good mem'ries.
New strings on my ol' guitar, a night I hope never ends.

So I'll pack my bag and say I'm leaving, you may follow.
We may find a better place or we may just lose a little time.
But Colorado beckons me, no city man am I.
Colorado beckons me, no city man am I.
