Written on US Highway 287, driving back from a fantastic trip to Salida, Colorado with a good friend. We got back home to Fort Worth, Texas around midnight and were so fired up about our great trip and my new song that we stayed up til 3 am playing this song over and over.

Lyrics

The night's so warm
With you here with me.
Will you comfort me tonight?

The mountains and the riverside
their music sings so softly thru the trees.
My lady bares her soul again.
She puts a touch of magic in the breeze.

I'm lying here beneath the starry sky
Thinking of the lady I believe in.
Friends around me play their old guitars.
My lady reaches for my company.
So she plays her song for me.
And I know I'll need her here tonight.
The mountain night air's blowing cold again.
And I must say so she knows.

I wanna love you in the evening sun till the morning once again has broken.
I wanna love you in the evening sun, with the fire that your love has woken.

So she plays her song for me.
And I know I'll need her here tonight.
The mountain night air's blowing cold again.
And I must say so she knows.

I wanna love you in the evening sun till the morning once again has broken.
I wanna love you in the evening sun, with the fire that your love has woken.

I wanna love you in the evening sun till the morning once again has broken.
I wanna love you in the evening sun, with the fire that your love has woken.

Ah, there goes that evening sun
Setting down over that hill
Shining down on the Arkansas River

I'm gonna love you in the evening sun.
I'm gonna love you in the evening sun.
I'm gonna love you in the evening sun.
